Samuel Bache, Age 36
Private, 27508 18th Battalion, Welsh Regiment.
Samuel had been born in Darlaston in the Black Country but having moved to
Shropshire, was living in Dawley at the time of his enlistment.
Samuel was a prolific letter writer and numerous letters from him survive in the
copies of the Dawley News that still exist, in which he mentions various other Dawley
lads.
He was killed in action during the second phase of the great German offensive in the
spring of 1918. Samuel was killed on the 10th April 1918 and his body never found.
His name is commemorated on the Ploegsteert memorial Panel reference 7.
